Mandatory training costs

We're waiting for Daniel Jones to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust,

Can you please provide information regarding the following questions:
1. Do you outsource any of the mandatory training for clinical staff? Such as Online training regarding Infection control, consent, safeguarding adults and children, radicalisation and Equality and diversity.

2. If you outsource the training material in any way, what is the annual cost for this? If you require a specific time frame for this, 2018/2019 costing period would be preferred.

3. If you do not outsource, can you estimate the cost to the trust to design, maintain, monitor and accredit this training with Skills for Health and any other accreditation such as CPD? If you require a specific time frame for this, 2018/2019 costing period would be preferred.

4. Do currently outsource for any other training, either classroom based or online, that is not classed as standard mandatory training? Such as mental health in the work place, physical restraint training or anything else along these lines.

5. If so, can you provide the estimated annual cost for this? If you require a specific time frame for this, 2018/2019 costing period would be preferred.

6. If no, but you offer this training in-house, can you also supply us with the annual cost for this, and frequency of training. If you require a specific time frame for this, 2018/2019 costing period would be preferred.

Yours faithfully,

Daniel Jones

Dear PENNINECARE, Foi (PENNINE CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST),

Thank you for providing me with as much information as you have so quickly.

I do have a query on question 3 as it isn't asking for exact figures but for an estimate of some costs.

Is it possible to find out how much is spent with CPD each year, Skills for Health, and how many staff are employed to develop or maintain the online training? Is this supplied internally and therefore something that is not sourced by the trust it's self, but higher up the NHS procurement chain?

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Jones

PENNINECARE, Foi (PENNINE CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST), Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust

Hi Daniel

Under FOI, we're unable to provide estimations or approximations. We can only provide recorded information that is held.

Thank you for your new request. Can you please clarify the below:

RE "Is it possible to find out how much is spent with CPD each year, Skills for Health," - Is this asking how much we spend with Skills For Health on CPD?

RE "and how many staff are employed to develop or maintain the online training?" - Is this just mandatory training? Or both mandatory and non-mandatory?

And finally RE "Is this supplied internally and therefore something that is not sourced by the trust it's self, but higher up the NHS procurement chain?" - Again, is this mandatory, or mandatory and non-mandatory? Is this regarding online training? Are you seeking confirmation if we make this internally? And if not, are you seeking if it's sources directly by us, or by another provider on our behalf? E.g. regionally or nationally? Is that correct?

Your request will be kept on hold until your clarification is received.

Kind regards

Dear Sarah,

Thank you for such a quick reply.

RE "Is it possible to find out how much is spent with CPD each year, Skills for Health," - Is this asking how much we spend with Skills For Health on CPD?
Yes, and any other accreditation you feel require for your mandatory training.

RE "and how many staff are employed to develop or maintain the online training?" - Is this just mandatory training? Or both mandatory and non-mandatory?
Just mandatory

And finally RE "Is this supplied internally and therefore something that is not sourced by the trust it's self, but higher up the NHS procurement chain?" - Again, is this mandatory, or mandatory and non-mandatory? Is this regarding online training? Are you seeking confirmation if we make this internally? And if not, are you seeking if it's sources directly by us, or by another provider on our behalf? E.g. regionally or nationally? Is that correct?
Firstly, this is referring to online mandatory training. i am seeking confirmation if you create this online or source it externally. If you do not create this internally, yes i am asking if this is sourced by the trust or another provider on your behalf. E.g. Regionally or nationally.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Jones
