Malicious email volume

Please find below my FOI request regarding malicious emails sent to the council.

The date range for the requests is from 2018 to present day. The data shall include a breakdown by year.

1. How many malicious emails (e.g. phishing emails) have been successfully blocked?
2. What percentage of malicious emails were opened by staff?
3. What percentage of malicious links in the emails were clicked on by staff?
4. How many ransomware attacks were blocked?
5. How many ransomware attacks were successful?

Re:      Freedom of Information Act request – HPFOI2021/22-0595

Thank you for your request for information which was received by the
Council on 15 November 2021. Please accept my sincere apologies for the
delay in responding to your request.

I am advised that the Council’s response to your information request
detailed below is as follows.

1. How many malicious emails (e.g. phishing emails) have been successfully
blocked?

2. What percentage of malicious emails were opened by staff?

staff?

4. How many ransomware attacks were blocked?

The Council considers the information requested in questions 1 - 5 to be
exempt under Section 31(3) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  The
Council can neither confirm nor deny (NCND) the numbers or types of
cyber-attacks as it would have a detrimental impact on the IT security. 
The Council considers that it is not in the public interest to put the
Council in a position whereby its IT security may be compromised.

 

Under the Re-Use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015, you are
free to use any of the information that you have been provided with by the
Council in response to this request.  The information may be re-used
subject to the terms of the [1]Open Government Licence.

If you are dissatisfied with the response given to your request, you are
entitled to request an internal review.  Please
contact [2][email address], within 2 months of receiving the Council’s
response, if you require an internal review of your case.

If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of the internal review, you
