Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your additional request for information regarding Crook
Pool, Millom

I can advise that the information requested is as follows:

You asked:-

 1. Could we please request maintenance records for the years prior to
2010 for the seized flap valve at Crook Pool, Millom, Cumbria.

Following a search of our paper and electronic records I have established
that the information you requested is not held by the Council . The
Copeland Record Retention Schedule sets a period of 7 years for retaining
records of this type and as such any records archived prior to 2010 would
not have been retained.

 2. Can you please clarify if your previous response stating "there has
been no maintenance" was not only referring to the flap valve at Crook
Pool but also to the flap that discharges from Crook Pool onto the
banking?

Please see the text below explaining there are 3 locations. I have
attached a map to assist. Could you please review and confirm the exact
locations and issues referred to.

 3. If this is not the case can you please provide us with maintenance
records you have for the flap that discharges from Crook Pool onto the
banking?

Response linked with question 2, again records archived prior to 2010 will
not be available.

There are 3 outfall and valve locations and 3 locations where Crook Pool
discharges onto banking.  The locations shown in the attached map are:

+ Wasdale Road Outfall and Flap Valve – This is a riparian outfall,
which is the land owner’s responsibility. No further details held by
Copeland Borough Council.
+ New Crook Pool Outfall and Flap Valve
+ Old Crook Pool Outfall and Flap Valve

In order to resolve your issues in a more timely fashion could I suggest
that further requests for information or clarification be forwarded
directly to the Manager with overall responsibility for theses matters.

Copeland’s Public Protection Manager can be contacted on
[1][email address] and will be happy to assist.

I hope this is the information you require, but do not hesitate to contact
me if you wish to clarify anything further.

The Council makes every effort to make sure that the services it provides
are as efficient and effective as possible, and this includes any requests
under the Freedom of Information Act.

If you believe that your request has not been dealt with satisfactorily

Dear Sir/Madam,

In order to further clarify the below response I have now received an
additional update reproduced below for your information and attention.

There are 2 outfall and valve locations and 2 locations where Crook Pool
discharges onto banking.  (I assume by banking, it is the estuary that is
being referred to.)

The locations of flap valves known to CBC are shown in the attached map:

Wasdale Road Outfall and Flap Valve – This is a riparian outfall, which is
the land owner’s responsibility. No further details held by Copeland
Borough Council. It is, as far as CBC knows the seized flap valve that is
being referred to and was repaired / replaced by CCC following
investigations, even though it wasn’t its responsibility to do so.

I hope this is of some assistance.
