Machine guns trained on disabled people - not reported by the BBC?
Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
Earlier this month (the 11th, I think), Iain Duncan Smith appeared before the Parliamentary Work And Pensions Committee.
Representatives of several disability organisations attended the House Of Commons on that day, and it has been widely claimed that armed police guarding Mr Smith actually pointed machine guns straight at these people, most of whom were disabled and one or two of whom were even in wheelchairs.
If this actually happened, then it is something that is unprecedented in a civilised country like ours, and a matter that should rank very highly is all news media. The claim that machine guns were pointed at disabled people by British police is, if true, something that should dwarf news stories such as 'Plebgate' into insignificance.
And yet while 'Plebgate' has been headlined numerous times by the BBC, I have not heard this particular incident mentioned once, either on the BBC's television news, or Radio 4's Today, or PM, or any other Radio 4 news programmes.
I am writing to ask, therefore, if there is any written record of editorial discussions which led to the decision not to investigate this worrying claim, or even to mention it I would also like to see any documents that may have been sent to the BBC from any government department about this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Pamela Twigge
