M62 speed

We're waiting for Daniel McMinimee to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Highways England Company Limited,

Please could you provide me with the variable speed limit for the following location:

M62, between Junction 26 & 27 Eastbound on 24/08/2019 at 16.25.

Additionally, could you please confirm the following:

1) The full details of the reason the M62 variable speed limit was set at what it was at the above stated location, date, and time.

2) The time that the variable speed limits that lead up to the J27/26 eastbound were introduced, the time they were ended and also the duration of the activity and issue that led to the speed limit being in force.

Dear Mr McMinimee

 

Thank you for your email on 10 September 2019 concerning variable speed
settings on the M62 eastbound Junction 26 to 27 on the 24 August 2019 at
16:25.

The information you have requested we make available to the public on a
regular basis.

Your request has been handled under normal business practices and not in
accordance with the Freedom of Information Act/Environmental Information
Regulations.

 

The following refers to settings for incident management on the specified
date and time requested between Junctions 26 and 27 of the eastbound M62
:-

 

15:59 temporary speed limit of 60mph along with legend settings of
“Unconfirmed obstruction” were set at all signal sites on the eastbound
M62 between Junctions 26 and 27. These are default settings until
confirmation of the location is identified.

16:02 Lane 1 closure (Red X) with 40mph temporary speed settings were set
on 2050a this was following confirmation and location of a vehicle which
was confirmed on the hard shoulder which at the time was being used as a
running lane due to congestion. The lead in signal to 2050a which is 2041a
was set to lane 1 “Lane divert right”  with temporary 50mph speed limits,
the lead in signal to 2041a which is 2033a was set to a temporary speed
limit of 50mph with the legend “Obstruction slow down”.

16:48 above incident management signals were cleared with the automatic
queue detection system setting temporary speeds of 60mph in the area due
to the congestion resulting from the incident.
