Asiantaeth Trwyddedu Gyrwyr a Cherbydau Nid oedd gan y wybodaeth y gofynnwyd amdani.

Dear Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency,
Can you please supply numeric recorded losses of driving test data for individuals prior to 1973, and any information available on the reason for these losses.

Yours faithfully,

David Greenslade

FOI, Asiantaeth Trwyddedu Gyrwyr a Cherbydau

Dear Mr Greenslade,

Would you be able to clarify which agency the request is for as the DVLA does not deal with driving test. The driving test are dealt with the DVSA - Drivers Vehicle Standards Agency.

Many thanks

Dear FOI,
It is the DVLA I am trying to get my details from and they have not got details of my test dated from 1971. It appears that some details were lost / misplaced during a reorganising of records sometime prior to 1999. I am not aware of the internal working of either the DVLA or the DVSA or their individual responsibilities so therefore cannot say which agency can answer my question. The question is aimed at the agency responsible for the keeping of records on driving tests. Not the actual driving test itself. So the request needs to be sent to the agency responsible for the keeping of driving test pass data, whichever of the two afore mentioned agencies that is.

Yours sincerely,

David Greenslade

Dear FOI,

Thankyou for the reply but as you may appreciate it does not answer my original question because as you state, you no longer have the information on file. It was all "lost" when records were centralised circa 1973. From your reply, I can only conclude that all driving license test records prior to 1973 were not brought forward from the local agencies responsible, into the new central data base. This means, I assume, that you do not have any driving test details on file for any person who took their driving test prior to 1973.

Yours sincerely,
David Greenslade
