Thank you for your information request of 30 May 2019 and please accept
our apologies for delay in providing the response to you.  Aberdeen City
Council (ACC) has completed the necessary search for the information
requested. Our response is now detailed below.

 

 1. When looked after disabled children self-harms in a providers care
home what procedure have to be followed?

All commissioned providers have procedures which are in line with safe
care and the National Child Protection Procedures adopted by ACC.

 

 2. When a looked after disabled child takes an overdose in a provider’s
care home what procedures have to be followed?

 3. When a looked after disabled child allergies they have been assaulted
in a providers care home what procedures have to be followed?

Please see the response to question 1.

 

 4. When a looked after disabled child is restrained in a providers care
home what procedures have to be followed?

Please see the response to question 1.

All establishments have their own procedures re Investigating any Child
Protection allegation.

 

 5. When a looked after disabled child is involved in repeated incidents
in a care home that put them at risk what are the reporting
procedures?

Please see the response to question 1, plus any incident for a Looked
after child would be reported to ACC and an agreed investigation would be
followed in Line with Child Protection Procedures.

 

 6. What happens if a looked after disabled child needs a co-ordinated
support plan?

A co-ordinated support plan is the responsibility of the child’s host
School that reflects individual need and how these will be supported.

 

 7. What happens if a looked after disabled child is discriminated by
being excluded from school?

The ACC exclusion policy sets out the legal position regarding children
who have additional support needs including those who are looked after.

Children have the same rights and supports such as; Parents, The Virtual
Headteacher or advocacy.
