London HIV Strategy 2001 and beyond

Department of Health and Social Care did not have the information requested.

Dear Department of Health and Social Care,

The GLA Health Committee considered commissioning HIV and AIDS services in 2004: This document is here: https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/...

In their report they mentioned a Draft London HIV Strategy:

"A draft London HIV strategy was published in 2001 but as a result of organisational changes was never put into final form. The draft London HIV strategy will soon be updated and proactively implemented. The London Specialised Commissioning Group has prioritised work to develop an appropriate action plan to respond to the issues in the draft London HIV strategy."

Please provide a copy of the draft London HIV strategy mentioned or the show where the published London HIV strategy can be read.

Please provide any correspondence with the GLA in relation to their report 'Living with the virus' link above.

Yours faithfully,

A Hall

Thank you for contacting the Department of Health and Social Care.

We are currently experiencing very high volumes of enquiries and we are
focusing our resources on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) response.

If your enquiry is in relation to the pandemic, the Government has
launched a COVID-19 ‘hub’, which can be found
at [1]www.gov.uk/coronavirus and is regularly updated. The hub offers all
the Government’s latest advice and guidance, a link to the NHS website, a
portal for those offering assistance, a tracking service displaying the
latest information on cases in the UK, and an email alert service so
people can stay up to date with all the latest measures.

The answers to many other questions can be found on [2]GOV.UK,
the [3]Department of Health and Social Care website or by visiting
the [4]NHS website. We may not respond to you if the answer to your
enquiry can be found on either of these websites. Where a reply is
appropriate, we aim to send a response within 18 working days, or 20
working days if your query is a Freedom of Information request or
complaint.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 you must get tested as soon as possible.
The swab test takes less than a minute and is pain-free. Results from test
sites are generally received within 24 hours of the test being
administered. Further information, including what symptoms to look out
for, can be found at [5]this website.

If your business is interested in helping the Government increase
COVID-19 testing capacity, please visit [6]this Government website. Please
note the service that was set up for businesses to offer other
COVID-19 support has closed.

If you are a clinician looking to support the NHS with the COVID-19
response, please visit [7]this website, where you will find a variety of
required roles for both registered and unregistered individuals.

If you are a clinician who has retired within the last six years and you
would like to volunteer to join the NHS COVID-19 vaccination team, please
visit [8]this website.

If you are a member of the public wishing to volunteer during the
pandemic, please visit [9]this website for more information.

The Department of Health and Social Care does not process complaints about
the NHS or social services. If you wish to make a complaint about a
healthcare professional, an NHS organisation or a social care provider,
please visit the [10]complaints procedure page on the Government website.

You can find out more about the Department’s commitments from
our [11]Personal Information Charter.

Dear Department of Health and Social Care,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department of Health and Social Care's handling of my FOI request 'London HIV Strategy 2001 and beyond'.

The GLA Scrutiny report Living with the Virus mentioned, makes recommendations to the Government and the Department for Health specifically. This would have required correspondence between the GLA and the Department of Health as requested within the FOI Request originally. Please conduct an internal review.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/l...

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department of Health and Social Care's handling of my FOI request 'London HIV Strategy 2001 and beyond'.

There has been no response to this Freedom of Information request at all. Whilst I understand a delay due to the pandemic no communication at all has been received.

Dear Freedom of Information,

Thank you for your response today.

I can confirm that there was a formal response dated 12th July. This stated that the DHSC did not hold any information. Full letter is in the chain of correspondence.

Due to the nature of this FOI request and the fact that this involves correspondence between two public authorities, the DHSC and the GLA, I would expect that this information is archived. That Ministers or other public servants must have considered the referral and that some information - as requested - should be available.

For this reason, I requested an internal review of the 12th July response. I have copied the relevant sections below:

"Dear Mr/Ms Hall,
Freedom of Information Request Reference FOI-1337246
Thank you for your request dated 12 June 2021 in which you asked the Department of Health and
Social Care (DHSC):
Subject: Freedom of Information request - London HIV Strategy 2001 and beyond
The GLA Health Committee considered commissioning HIV and AIDS services in 2004: This
document is here: https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/...
In their report they mentioned a Draft London HIV Strategy:
"A draft London HIV strategy was published in 2001 but as a result of organisational changes was
never put into final form. The draft London HIV strategy will soon be updated and proactively
implemented. The London Specialised Commissioning Group has prioritised work to develop an
appropriate action plan to respond to the issues in the draft London HIV strategy."
Q1) Please provide a copy of the draft London HIV strategy mentioned or show where the
published London HIV strategy can be read.
Q2) Please provide any correspondence with the GLA in relation to their report 'Living with the
virus' link above.
Your request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
DHSC does not hold this information. We have conducted a search of our records (both electronic
and hardcopy), and have found no information within scope of your request.
If you are not satisfied with the handling of your request, you have the right to appeal by asking for
an internal review. This should be submitted within two months of the date of this letter and sent to
[email address], or to the address at the top of this letter.
Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communication."

I look forward to this being undertaken and completed now.

Yours sincerely,

A Hall

FreedomofInformation, Department of Health and Social Care

Dear A Hall,
