Location of Advertising Spaces in London
Dear Transport for London,
I would like a data file which gives the location and format of all fixed advertising spaces within London’s transport network.
I am predominately interested in fixed sites visible from the street. I do not require details of advertising spaces on vehicles or those not visible from the street (e.g. advertisement spaces within buildings such as tube stations).
More specifically, I would like the location of any roadside hoardings and bus shelters which display advertising, as well as any hoardings which are part of the DLR or London Overground networks. Information on advertising formats within tube stations whilst of interest are not part of the primary request.
My preferred format would be a CSV file with an individual entry for each advertising space giving the format type as well as location information. The location information would ideally be provided in an OSGB36 (Easting/Northing) format.
Yours faithfully,
Mr. Siddle

Thank you for your email on 2 April 2013 asking for information about
advertising spaces on the DLR, London Overground and London Buses network.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can
confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked for:

Please find the attached data detailing all advertising bus shelter
sites. The spreadsheet references the relevant shelters, the roads they
are on, the shelter type and the number of advertising panels on each
shelter. All advertising shelters offer paper six sheet format
advertisements or digital panels in the same size advertising box display.
Please find below a list of advertising spaces on advertising panels on
the DLR which are visible from the street;
5 x 48 sheets at Cable Street
1 x 48 sheet Blackwall Station
1 x 48 sheet Westferry station.
1 x 48 sheet Crossharbour station.
In addition, we have up to two 48 sheet boards on the A102(M).
Regarding advertising sites which are visible from the street (road
facing), on the London Overground network, we have 2 x 4 sheets and 1 x 6
sheet at Kensington Olympia.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to

Dear Eva,
Thank you for the information you provided about the advertising spaces.
As per my original request I had hoped that you would be able to provide a more precise location for the spaces.
I suggested that the location could be provided in an OSGB36 (Easting/Northing) format. The information provided only gives a road name and as such the location information is extremely limited.
Please could you provide the location of these spaces in some form of coordinates system so that the precise location of the spaces is clear?
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Siddle
Dear Mr Siddle
Thank you for your email.
We do not hold the information in the format requested for the DLR and
London Overground so we have given you site addresses which are easily
identifiable.
However, I am checking if we hold this information for London Buses. I
will revert to you in due course.
Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Siddle
Please find attached a list of all stops and shelters on the bus network
with reference columns to help you pinpoint each location. These include
eastings and northings as requested, along with the road name and bus stop
direction. The spreadsheet lists all relevant infrastructure as of early
May this year.
