Dear Ms Kerr,

Thank you for your email of 24th June requesting information concerning second year medical exams for the last three academic years. Colleagues have provided the information you requested below.

Note: This data is an average of the last three years (201516, 201617, and 201718). In accordance with Section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act, the University has not been able to give exact numbers by year as small numbers are involved, and which could therefore subsequently identify an individual.

Q. Number of students who sat June exams and % who passed.
A. An average of 287 sit the June exams and, on average, 235 pass outright (82%)

Q. Number of students who sat the August resit and % who passed.
A. An average of 41 students take resits in August (as first or second attempt) and pass.

Q. Number of students who repeated 2nd year
A. An average of 7 students per year repeat their second year of studies.

Q. Number of students who failed to get back in to the school.
A. An average of three students per year withdraw from the course (this can include termination of studies or voluntary withdrawal).
