Library fines

Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dear Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts,

I am writing to ask about library fines during the academic year 2015/2016. For the time period starting from the first day of term, covering the next 364 days (e.g. one full year), please provide:

1. The total amount of money the library received from the payment of overdue items. Exclude costs of replacing lost books - this request solely relates to the cost of books that are returned later than their due date.

2. Information about where this money then goes (is it absorbed into a specific library budget for example? if so what one?)

3. If possible, from the figure provided in 1, break this down by

a) category of user paying fine (e.g. undergraduate, postgraduate, staff)
b) country of origin of user paying fine (e.g. France, Italy, US). If only broader categories are possible e.g. "EU", "non-EU" then please provide this instead.

Many thanks, and do let me know if you require any further clarification.

Yours faithfully,

Jack Forks

Dear Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts,

Do you have an update on my request please?

Many thanks,

Jack.

The last six FOI requests made to this institution have not been responded to. I have separately contacted their main reception to alert them to this and am awaiting a response

Sent request to Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts again, using a new contact address.

Dear Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts's handling of my FOI request 'Library fines'. I have received no response at all, after chasing numerous email addresses including the one you advertise for FOI requests.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/l...

Still no response at all. Have lodged a "report a concern" form with the Information Commissioner's Office.

ICO issued authority with a final decision notice. Authority responded on the 12th of May to an email address I used to chase them up with, and have not replied to the email address where the original FOI request was sent. Below is the text of their reply:

Dear Mr Forks,

Your FOI Request in respect of library fines in 2015/2016 has been passed to me.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in replying.

Please find answers to your questions below in red:

1. The total amount of money the library received from the payment of overdue items. Exclude costs of replacing lost books - this request solely relates to the cost of books that are returned later than their due date.

£2,169.20

2. Information about where this money then goes (is it absorbed into a specific library budget for example? if so what one?)

It is re-invested in learning resources (not necessarily the Learning Resources Centre).

3. If possible, from the figure provided in 1, break this down by

a) category of user paying fine (e.g. undergraduate, postgraduate, staff)

We do not differentiate between staff and students. We do not have postgraduate students.

b) country of origin of user paying fine (e.g. France, Italy, US). If only broader categories are possible e.g. "EU", "non-EU" then please provide this instead.

We do not keep records of the nationalities of staff or students paying fines.

If you need any further information please write directly to me.

All the best.
