Liability Insurance

The request was successful.

Dear Worcestershire County Council,

I would like to request all under the Freedom Of Information Act 2000 the following information-

1.Does an employee of the Council have to have Liability Insurance and is this a Legal Requirement? I would like to request to be informed of the Policy that is used.

2.Should a Service User request to see a copy of some one's Liability Insurance who works for the Council,do they have to send it to them? If not under what circumstances can they refuse?

3.Does a Service User have to provide a reason to request to see a copy of the said Liability Insurance? I can confirm in my case, that reasons were given.

4.If an employee of the Council admits to making mistakes writing the mistakes down wrong all the time, blaming heavy case loads hence a service user requests assurance in writing this will never happen again in the best interests of the public,do they have to abide by the Service User's request and when also, it is in the publics best interests? If not can i request to be informed of the reasons why not?

5.Can i request to be shown any relevant links relating to Liability Insurance for the said request to enable me with my request for both the publics best interests and myself?

6.Would a Manager/ess of any of the departments for the Council have to have Liability Insurance too?

Yours faithfully,

M M Simmons

Q1 - No you don't have liability insurance or no you're not legally required to have it?

Public liability insurance, though not compulsory, is something only the most cavalier business would cut back on. It covers you for damage against property or persons that you might encounter during your work eg your customers

Many clients won't deal with you or can't legally deal with you unless you have it, so you might consider it to be obligatory. This is particularly true when dealing with the public sector.

Dear Sarah Clarke,

Thank you for responding. For the benefit of any one reading this it is myself who is late responding.

I would like to ask further the questions left in an annotation to this very request i make as outlined below...
