Dear BBC FOI Enquiries,
Thank you for your reply.
You attachment states that the BBC has a long tradition of making information available and accessible and also seeks to be open and accountable. And yet, given the first opportunity it prefers not to be answerable at all to specific questions posed by the public, citing that the Freedom of Information act only covers information *other* than those held for journalism or literature.
Considering the BBC is primarIly a public news and information service I find this statement enlightening as i am sure other shall.
The attachment made clear that ‘it is important to bear this in mind when considering the freedom of information act and how it applies to the BBC’ and that ‘the act does not apply to information held for the purposes of ‘creating’ BBC output’
I’m sure it doesn’t.
Once again I thank you for your time and while you did not intend to answer my original freedom of information request, you did so most succinctly.
Regards
J. Lewington
