Letter Forwarding Service

The request was partially successful.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to know how many requests the Letter Forwarding Service department has received for the past 3 years.

Please provide a month by month breakdown in electronic format broken down with their outcome:

No Match - Same Address Held - Letter Forwarded - Deceased

I would also like to know how the Letter Forwarding Service verifies responses marked as deceased. What databases are being used?

Please also provide turnaround times for each month in 2009.

Yours faithfully,

Miss E Smith

Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request,

Thank you for the response.

Can you please elaborate on your comment regarding the use of the Department's Personal Details Repository System and the Customer Information, to trace information System, to trace customer information and confirm any date of death"

What information is contained in these databases and where is sourced from?

Are you actually checking official death registration information as provided by the General Register Office or are the deaths submitted by relatives or executors of the deceased?

How are deaths verified as being bonafide?

Yours sincerely,

Miss E Smith
