We're waiting for April Tay to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear University College London,

I'm writing to you regarding the course Law LLB course code M100.

1. How many candidates are there from Singapore from 2016 to 2020?
2. How many candidates from Singapore were offered a place from 2016-2020?
3. Could you provide me with a list of each applicant's IB grades/a level scores, LNAT score and if they were offered a place or rejected for the years 2018, 2019 and 2020

Yours faithfully,

April Tay

If you have submitted a Freedom of Information request please accept this
email as acknowledgement that your request has been received. You should
expect a response from us within 20 working days.
“You will appreciate that all information requests place some degree of
demand on a public authority’s resources in terms of costs and staff time
and that UCL may need to prioritise resources to other areas, or adapt its
usual approach to information compliance work, in order to meet the
unprecedented challenges we are all facing during the Coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic.

Therefore, we need to advise you may experience delays in receiving
responses to information rights requests during the Coronavirus (COVID-19)
pandemic.”

Dear April

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request of 8^th January 2021.
Apologies for the delay in responding to you request.

We have completed the compilation of information in response to your
request for information about UCL’s LLB Law programme.

We can confirm that we do hold information of the description specified in
your request and this information is provided embedded in your request
below.

 1. How many candidates are there from Singapore from 2016 to 2020?

SESSION Course code Applicants
2016 UBLLAWSING05 320
2017 UBLLAWSING05 302
2018 UBLLAWSING05 231
2019 UBLLAWSING18 248
2020 UBLLAWSING18 200

 2. How many candidates from Singapore were offered a place from
2016-2020?

SESSION Course code Offers
2016 UBLLAWSING05 91
2017 UBLLAWSING05 104
2018 UBLLAWSING05 81
2019 UBLLAWSING18 75
2020 UBLLAWSING18 76

 3. Could you provide me with a list of each applicant's IB grades/a level
scores, LNAT score and if they were offered a place or rejected for
the years 2018, 2019 and 2020

Please note:

o We do not hold scores of those who were rejected by UCL.
o We have provided the average IB scores and A level  grades for all
applicants and for the applicants that were offered a place.  The
individualised scores and grades of applicants have been withheld
under Section 40(2) of the FOIA by virtue of Section 40(3A)(i).

Section 40(2) of the FOIA allows a public authority to withhold
information from a response to a request under the FOIA when the
information requested is personal data relating to someone other than the
requestor, and its disclosure would breach any of the Data Protection
principles.

In this case we believe that the disclosure of the individualised IB
scores and A level grades of applicants would not be within their
reasonable expectations and as such would be unfair and in breach of the
first data protection principle which requires personal data to be
processed fairly and lawfully.

As the Section 40(2) exemption is an absolute one, there is no need to
conduct a public interest test.

IB grades:

offered a place
applicants
all applicants average  IB
SESSION average IB grade grades
2018 41.84 42.53
2019 41.73 41.68
2020 41.21 42.53

A level grades:

SESSION all applicants offered a place
2018 AAA AAA
2019 AAA AAA
2020 AAA AAA

LNAT score: UCL does not old the LNAT scores of those who it rejected.
Please see the attached spreadsheet for the LNAT scores of offer holders
for 2018, 2019 and 2020.  Please note: Within the spreadsheet, the ‘row
labels’ column is the MCT score achieved and the ‘count of LNAT’ column is
how many achieved that MCT score.

As you will see within the attached spreadsheet, where the number of
applicants who achieved a particular LNAT score is fewer than 5, this
information has been withheld because this is personal data of third
parties or, if linked with other personal identifiers in the public
domain, would likely to become personal data.  This information has been
withheld under Section 40(2) of the FOIA by virtue of Section 40(3A)(i).

Section 40(2) of the FOIA allows a public authority to withhold
information under the FOIA where (i) the requested information is personal
data relating to someone other than the requester and (ii) its disclosure
would breach any of the Data Protection principles.  In this case, we
believe that the requested information could relate to and identify
individuals and therefore would be personal data.  The disclosure of these
personal data would not be within the reasonable expectations of the
individuals concerned and it would be unfair to do so; this therefore
breaches the first Data Protection principle.

As the Section 40(2) exemption is an absolute one, there is no need to
conduct a public interest test.
