Law LLB

We're waiting for April Tay to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear University of Warwick,
I'm writing to you regarding the course Law LLB course code M100.

1. How many candidates are there from Singapore from 2016 to 2020?
2. How many candidates from Singapore were offered a place from 2016-2020?
3. Could you provide me with a list of each applicant's IB grades/a level scores, LNAT score and if they were offered a place or rejected for the years 2018, 2019 and 2020

Yours faithfully,

April Tay

If your query is not related to a Freedom of Information Request or Data

*Please note that due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, the University of

April

Thank you for submitting an FOI request, requesting information from the
University of Warwick. In order to comply with your request, we would be
grateful if you could please clarify the following:

·        Please confirm what you mean by candidates as this is not a term
the University uses – do you mean applicants?

·        Please confirm whether the years you refer to are years of entry
– i.e. 2016 = entry into 2016/17 academic year or year of admission cycle?

·        Please note that the University of Warwick does not require the
LNAT for law admissions therefore it does not hold this information.

·        With regards to question 3 of your request – does this refer to
all applicants or just those from Singapore?

Having reviewed your request, the University estimates that compliance
with your request would exceed the appropriate costs limit under S.12
Freedom of Information Act 2000. Public authorities are not obliged to
work past the appropriate costs limit under section 12(1) of the Freedom
of Information Act 2000. This is currently £450, which equates to 18 hours
of staff time calculated at £25 an hour as set out in the Freedom of
Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations
2004.

The University believes your request would exceed the costs limit because
it is not possible to easily extract and collate the data for question 3
of your request. Information regarding exam results, predicted or final,
is held individually for each applicant within the University’s systems.
The University’s admission team does not have the software or the
expertise to collate exam performance into the groupings you have
requested. Each qualification for an applicant is presented as a single
entry, therefore, to provide this information would involve a manual
search of each line for each applicant to ascertain each grade, which the
University estimates would exceed the cost limit. It is therefore advised
that you submit a refined request.

The University is obliged to offer guidance as to what would be manageable
under the costs limit so with that in mind, it would be able to provide an
answer to questions 1 and 2 only. If this information would be of interest
to you then please submit a refined request stating that you are happy to
proceed on the basis we have suggested when providing the clarification
requested above.

If you do submit a refined request, the University will treat it as a
substitute request to your original request and the 20 working day
statutory time limit will begin from the date your refined request is
received. In the absence of a refined request, the University will send an
official response to your original request, engaging the costs limit
exemption under section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
within the 20 working day limit. Please also be advised that the
University will be unable to proceed with your request until you have
provided the requested clarifications and the 20 working day statutory
time limit does not begin until clarification has been received.

Kind Regards

Dear infocompliance, Resource,

These questions are pertaining to applicants only from Singapore.

To confirm, the years of entry ie. 2016 = 2016/2017 academic year.

Yours sincerely,

April Tay

Thank you for providing the below clarification however you have not provided a refined request. The University highlighted that the request in its current format would exceed the appropriate costs limit under S.12 FOIA.

The University suggested what would be manageable under the costs limit - it would be able to provide an answer to questions 1 and 2 only. If this information would be of interest to you then please submit a refined request stating that you are happy to proceed on this basis otherwise the University will issue a formal refusal notice under S.12 FOIA.

Kind regards

Thank you for providing the below clarification and refining your request
however the University’s admissions team have asked for some additional
clarification – please see below:

·        Does candidates mean applications/applicants?

·        Does offered a place mean those who were made an offer by the
University (regardless of the offer made or are you interested in only
conditional or unconditional offers) or does it mean those that were made
an offer, met their conditions and were accepted by the University?

·        Also - Singapore - domicile or nationality? (i.e. living in
Singapore (any nationality) or Singapore nationality (could be living
anywhere).

Please be advised that the University will be unable to proceed with your
request until you have provided the requested clarifications and the 20
working day statutory time limit does not begin until clarification has
been received. Should we not receive a reply to this email, your request
will be closed in 20 working days.

Kind Regards

Dear infocompliance, Resource,

1. The term "candidates" would apply to both applicants and applications submitted for a place in Law LLB at Warwick.
2. I am interested in the offers made by Warwick for Law LLB regardless of conditional or unconditional.
3. Singapore would be referring to both domicile and domestic.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

April Tay

April

Thank you for your further clarification however we are still not clear on the last point RE Singapore where you have stated ' domicile and domestic'?

Are you interested in applicants whose nationality is Singaporean, even if they do not live in Singapore or those applicants who domicile (live) in Singapore - i.e. Singapore is their permanent home but Singapore may not be their country of origin?

Please be advised that the University will be unable to proceed with your
request until you have provided the requested clarifications and the 20
working day statutory time limit does not begin until clarification has
been received. Should we not receive a reply to this email, your request
will be closed in 20 working days.

Kind Regards
