Dear Mr Littlejohn

Thank you for your FOI request detailed below, after consultation with the relevant departments I can confirm the following information. Stafford Borough Council does not hold a definitive list of the land which it owns, we do have a list of land once owned by SBC which is attached & entitled' land ownership' & we have a list of Land we have since sold which is also attached & entitled 'details list'. To obtain the current holding you will need to remove the properties mentioned in the details list from the ownership list.

The Council is currently working on placing ordnance survey details of all its land ownership on its website. It is hoped that this project will be completed for 2014. In the meantime, such information is held on Mapinfo Professional & is held under licence that would prevent dissemination to third parties. All of the Councils land is, however, registered at HM Land Registry where further details can be obtained. Details of restrictive covenants relating to council land is not held in a central record & would require the investigation of individual deeds. The cost in time taken to action this would exceed the appropriate limit under the Freedom of Information Act.

Value – we do not hold a record of the value of council owned land.

The person responsible for the councils land & property register is the LLPG Custodian, Technology Section, Stafford Borough Council.

The Council’s complaints procedure can be found at www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/cme4967, should you have any complaints regarding the handling of your request. Section 50, of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, gives a further right for you to apply to the Information Commissioner for a decision, should you consider your request has not been dealt with in accordance with the Act.

Kind regards

Cathy

Dear legalservices,

Thank you and i note your comments. You may care to note the following two website links. Whilst I have recieved partial information , the content of your response is in fact legally incorrect. You should not be directing people to the land registry (where a fee is payable of several £000s for staffords information) , By law you are required to hold the data and make it available to the public
