Dear Duchy of Lancaster,

I would like you to reveal your proposals for Lancaster Castle after renovation works have taken place.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Fenton

Debbie Garritty, Duchy of Lancaster

Dear Mr Fenton

Thank you for your recent enquiry. Please be advised that the Duchy of
Lancaster is not subject to requests under the Freedom of Information Act.

We do however maintain a comprehensive corporate website
([1]www.duchyoflancaster.co.uk) which should provide you with the latest
news from the Duchy and we also have a separate standalone website for
Lancaster Castle ([2]www.lancastercastle.com).

With regard to the current refurbishment and conservation work at
Lancaster Castle, we are currently working hard to deliver Phase 2 of the
project which will open up the rear courtyards and bring more of the
Castle’s historic buildings into public use. These will include a
purpose-built bistro/café, gift shop and a new teaching and conference
facility (see
[3]https://www.duchyoflancaster.co.uk/2017/...).
We hope to complete the project and open up the kitchen courtyards to the
public in early June 2019.

The Duchy has two main strategic aims for Lancaster Castle in the
long-term. The first is to protect and preserve the historic fabric of the
buildings and the second is to open as much of the Castle as possible to
the general public. We believe that it should serve as a cultural,
educational and community hub for the City.

Kind regards

Debbie
