ACCESS I., University of Durham

Dear Mr Summers

Thank you for your request for information from Durham University.
Colleagues have provided the information below in response to your
questions.

May I please request the following information for the entry years of
2016, 2017 and 2018 for the L100 Economics course at the Durham
University:

We are unable to provide data for 2018 entry currently, this data will
become available after the 1st December 2018.

1)      Number of Applicants

Year of Entry Number of Applications
2016 885
2017 985

2)      Number of Offers Made

Year of Entry Number of offers
2016 688
2017 767

3)      Number of Places

2016 L100 entry target = 162.  For 2017 entry we did not set individual
programme level targets; we only hold the Economics department target
which includes joint honours programmes.

4)      Mean number of A* predicted grades for those sitting the A-Level,
of whom received an offer

This data includes applicants who may be taking a combination of Level 3
qualifications (such as Pre-U or International Baccalaureate) as well as A
Levels.  We only looked at predicted A Levels as requested and so it will
also not properly take account of applicants who had already achieved A
Levels prior to applying.

Year of Entry Mean number of A*s predicted at A Level
2016 2.3867
2017 2.26722

5)      Mean number of A* achieved grades for those who sat the A-Level,
of whom received an offer

As with question 4, this data includes applicants who may have achieved a
combination of Level 3 qualifications (such as Pre-U or International
Baccalaureate) as well as A Levels.  As requested we only looked at A
Levels achieved.

Year of Entry Mean number of A*s achieved at A Level
2016 1.40793
2017 1.50201

6)      Mean number of A* achieved grades at GCSE, of whom received an
offer

Year of Entry Mean number of A*s achieved at GCSEs
2016 4.52186
2017 4.25553

7)      Number of offer holders who bear Further Mathematics as a fourth
A-Level

As with questions 4 and 5, we used A Level data only, this means that it
will not include any applicants that took less than 4 A Levels (including
A Level Further Mathematics) in combination with another Level 3
qualification.

Number of Offer Holders who achieved Further Maths
Year of Entry fourth A Level
2016 144
2017 160
