Kings Weston Iron Bridge progress

We're waiting for Martin Thomas to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Bristol City Council,
The Grade II Listed Iron Bridge has been damaged and the Public Right of way closed for over five years now. The City Council has a statutory duty to maintain Public Rights of Way and keep them open. No attempt has been made to repair the bridge and reopen the PROW, so the Council appear to be in contravention of their legal obligations. Our assumption is that the Highways Maintenance – Bridges & Highway Structures team have done no work on the Listed Iron Bridge since 2019. We believe that team have provided inaccurate and misleading information to elected representatives, the press, and by association the public at large to distract from their inaction. Under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act please can you provide the following:

- All time spent on the Kings Weston Iron bridge project by officers of the Highways Maintenance – Bridges & Highway Structures team within the Council summarised on a monthly basis either from timesheets, iTrent, or other time records kept by staff. This should be between 1st July 2019 and the date of receipt of this FOI request.

- All email correspondence between the Highways Maintenance – Bridges & Highway Structures team and officers of the Planning and Development Management officers between 1st June 2019 and the date of this email.

- All email correspondence regarding the Listed Kings Weston Iron Bridge between officers of the Mayor's office, including the mayor, and officers of Historic England between 1st June 2019 and the date of this email.

- The basis upon which the Highways Maintenance – Bridges & Highway Structures team have been advising elected representatives including Councillors and the Mayor of Bristol that the Council is "presently refining a revised Planning submission reapplication to take into the account and to resolve the issues raised by the Planning Authority".

I await your timely response.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Thomas

Dear Bristol City Council,

By law the local authority should have responded to my enquiry regarding time spent by the local authority highways structures team on the kings weston iron bridge and correspondence in respect to it. Please update me on this enquiry. Please also take this as an instruction under the act to commence an internal review of this request.

Yours sincerely,

Martin Thomas
