Kent Police involvement with South Coast partnership & GA22 Airship

The request was successful.

Willard Foxton

Dear Kent Police Authority,

I am interested in the Kent Police's involvement with the South Coast Partnership, the consortium of government agencies considering the possible use of spy drones.

I would like to know:

1.) If this has involved Project Astraea. (http://www.projectastraea.co.uk/)

2.) If anyone from the Kent Police or the South Coast partnership has met with representatives of Lindstrand technologies to discuss the GA22 airship drone.

3.) If any public money has been spent by any of the partners in the South Coast Partnership with Lindstrand Technologies.

4.) If the GA22 has been test flown; if not, when it will be test flown.

5.) If the Highways Agency has entered the South Coast partnership in any way shape or form.

Yours faithfully,

Willard Foxton

Dear Mr Foxton

Thank you for your request, I have endeavoured to answer each of your
questions and set out my responses below. Although you have written to
myself at the Police Authority (KPA), your question specifically refers to
the work of Kent Police ("the Force"). It is not my intention to be
obstructive or unhelpful and, as indicated above, I have sought to provide
a full answer to each of your questions. However, I have also asked for
your request to be passed to the Kent Police Force who might possibly have
further detail or be undertaking some activity that has not been reported
to the Police Authority.

1) The KPA has had no involvement with Project Astraea.
2) As KPA Chief executive I can confirm that no Police Authority
representative has met (or indeed is planned to meet) any of these firms
or bodies.
3) Not to the best of my knowledge - no report to the Authority or line /
reference in budget monitoring.
4) Not known - no knowledge of GA22.
5) Not known - Highways Agency staff would be best placed to respond here.

Therefore, and in accordance with section 10 of the Freedom of Information
Act, we have transferred your request to the Freedom of Information team
at Kent Police Headquarters. Kent Police will undertake to respond to
your request within 20 working days from their receipt of your request,
and should acknowledge your request within 6 working days.

I trust that this approach is satisfactory and I have included the contact
details of the FOI Team at Kent Police for your information and
convenience.
