1. What is the expenditure on Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) Staff salaries?
2. How many staff members' role is directly linked to KEF? Has this number
been increasing/decreasing?
3. What type of activities do you report to KEF?
4. What is the 'impact' of KEF activities? How do you quantify their
'impact'?
5. What is the annual expenditure on tracking/reporting Knowledge Exchange
activities?
6. What is the annual expenditure on IT software relating to REF, TEF and
KEF?

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request regarding
KEF data at Sheffield Hallam University. Please see the information below
in response to your request.
For the past two academic years: 2018-2019 2019-2020
1. What is the expenditure on Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) Staff
salaries?
In academic years 2018/19 and 2019/20 work undertaken was part of existing
roles.
2. How many staff members' role is directly linked to KEF? Has this number
been increasing/decreasing?
In academic years 2018/19 and 2019/20 less than 0.1 FTE. There has been an
increase in 2020/21.
3. What type of activities do you report to KEF?
Under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 information that
is reasonably accessible by other means is exempt from disclosure.
Research England provides information and guidance to universities on the

The narrative statements cover Strategy, Local Growth & Regeneration,
Public & Community Engagement.
4. What is the 'impact' of KEF activities? How do you quantify their
'impact'?
The impact of KEF activities is based on metrics relating to income and
interaction with Business and the Community taken from the Higher
Education Business and Community Interaction survey. These reports are in
the public domain

activities?
The University does not hold this information.
6. What is the annual expenditure on IT software relating to REF, TEF and
