Dear Jury Central Summoning Bureau,

Thank you for your letter.

I have further questions:

1. Does your office keep a list of all the names of individuals who have been called to jury service?

2. How many years is the list kept on your central database system?

3. Can members of the public request that data of their own jury service?

4. What is the email and postal address that members of the public can request this from?

5. When you mean that no one is exempt this also means that solicitors, barristers, police officers, judges, intelligence, government officials (MP, Councillors etc) can be part of the jury?

Yours sincerely,

A. Marfo

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your email enquiry.

1. Does your office keep a list of all the names of individuals who have been called to jury service?
A list comes over once a year and is updated on juror bureau with the names and addresses of potential jurors. The only time we will see the names is when we create the pools.

2. How many years is the list kept on your central database system?
The list is updated once a year around February March time.

3. Can members of the public request that data of their own jury service?
If someone serves as a juror, they will receive their summons which they complete. Once we action the summons they than will receive a confirmation pack. When at court they can request a remittance form showing they have attended for jury service. The only date which will be held for jurors o ntheir juror record will be, name, address contact details date of birth and the court they are attending.

4. What is the email and postal address that members of the public can request this from?
Please see below link on how you can request information.
https://www.gov.uk/make-a-freedom-of-inf...

5. When you mean that no one is exempt this also means that solicitors, barristers, police officers, judges, intelligence, government officials (MP, Councillors etc) can be part of the jury?
Yes any of the above can serve as a juror as no profession is exempt. If a juror feels they are unable to attend due to their profession they can request an excusal. If a jury officer is unsure if the grounds are acceptable it can be directed to the Judge at the crown court they are attending for further direction. If there is a conflict of interest the juror needs to inform the jury officer than they will not serve on that particular case.
