Judges power in altering transcripts
Dear Ministry of Justice,
What is the procedure for getting an accurate transcript of a case when the transcript is different to the actual hearing, in other words how do I get an uncensored transcript?
Yours faithfully,
Edwin Morris
Thank you for your e-mail, I am writing to advise you that your enquiry does not fall under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) regime and has been rejected by the Disclosure Team.
It may be helpful if I explain that the FOIA gives individuals and organisations the right of access to all types of recorded information held, at the time the request is received, by public authorities such as the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). Section 84 of the FOIA states that in order for a request for information to be handled as a FOI request, it must be for recorded information.
For example, a FOI request would be for a copy of a policy, rather than an explanation as to why we have that policy in place. On occasion, the MoJ receives requests that do not ask for recorded information, but ask more general questions about, for example, a policy, opinion or a decision.
You may wish to re-submit your enquiry to the Ministry of Justice, which will be treated as Official Correspondence. Our contact details are as follows:

Dear Disclosure Team,
I wish an internal review, pelase. Can you advise how many times judges are stopped from censoring the transcripts, in other words when a transcript has been amended by a judge, that judge is then made to incorporate all of the court hearings in the transcript ?
Please advise.
Yours sincerely,
Edwin Morris
Dear Edwin Morris,
Thank you for your email.
In order for us to proceed with your FOI request, please can you provide us a location i.e. specific court, prison establishment or region? MOJ is a large department and in order for us to allocate your request we would require this information.
Kind Regards,
Disclosure Team.
Dear Disclosure Team,
I would have thought that this was an unusual occurence and would have been noted within the MOJ as an incident to be looked at.
Therefore relatively easy to find, if that is not the case please explain why.
Yours sincerely,
Edwin Morris
Good morning,

Dear Disclosure Team,
The area is the west midlands, but it was meant to be a general question about judges power.
Can you advise as to why It cant be a general question and also if west midlands as an area would suffice.
Yours sincerely,
Edwin Morris
