Customer Contact Centre, The Financial Conduct Authority

Dear Peter Injustice,

Thank you for contacting the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). I
understand you would like to know why J.B.W Ltd have not filed any
accounts since the year ending Julky 2017 according to companies house. I
note your query was originally sent to our Freedom of Information
department, however they have forwarded this on to the Consumer Contact
Centre to respond to you.

J.B.W Ltd

I understand your query is in relation to J.B.W Ltd, however I have
conducted searches on our [1]Financial Services Register,, and the firm do
not appear to be authorised and regulated by us.
It's important to note that not all debt is regulated. A debt is generally
considered to be regulated if it’s linked to a regulated consumer credit
agreement such as a credit card or personal loan. A firm collecting debt
in relation to regulated consumer credit agreements should be authorised
by the FCA and hold the relevant permissions to conduct their business. If
a debt doesn’t relate to a regulated consumer credit agreement, it would
be considered unregulated and would fall outside our remit. Examples of
unregulated debt are gym memberships, parking fines and utility bills.

Companies House

From reviewing the firms entry on Companies House, it would appear that
their full accounts for 2018 are not due to be submitted until 30 April
2019, this may be why no accounts have been submitted since 31 July 2017.
We would suggest contacting [2]Companies House directly if you have any
further questions regarding this.

Credit Services Association

An organisation that you can contact if you have concerns regarding a debt
collection/enforcement agency, is the [3]Credit Services Association. They
have an online [4]Complaints Form that allows you to raise your concerns
regarding the firm. If you have any other queries or questions you can
also contact them on 0191 217 0775.

Citizens Advice Bureau

You may also wish to contact the [5]Citizens Advice Bureau for free and
impartial legal advice on this matter. You can contact them on 03454 04 05
06.

I appreciate this may not be the response you were hoping for, however I
hope the information provided has been helpful.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Customer Contact Centre,

The company I am requesting information is a debt enforcement company J.B.W. Group Limited.

Not to be mixed up with a building company that does not have periods after each of the letters in the company name.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Injustice

Customer Contact Centre, The Financial Conduct Authority

Dear Peter Injustice,

Thank you for your further email.

I've again checked our Financial Services Register, and I'm still unable
to locate a firm that we authorise under this name. As mentioned
previously, a debt is generally only considered to be regulated if it’s
linked to a regulated consumer credit agreement such as a credit card or
personal loan, therefore if the firm are collecting on other debts, they
may not need to be authorised by us.

Please continue to follow the guidance provided in my previous email and
contact the other organisations that I have referenced. Alternatively if
you do believe the firm to be authorised by us please provide me with
their Firm Reference Number, or postal address for me to conduct further
searches.

I appreciate this again may not be the response you were hoping for.

Yours sincerely,
