Items confiscated from Students at the University of Worcester

The request was successful.

Dear University of Worcester,

Please can you provide me with a complete list of items confiscated from students from 2010 to the present.

It would be greatly appreciated if you are able to list the individual items, the year they were confiscated, where they were confiscated from and who the item was seized by.

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under your Section 16 obligations, as to how I can refine my request to be included in the scope of the Act.

Yours faithfully,

Saeed Hussain

Helen Johnstone, University of Worcester

Dear Mr Hussain

We have reviewed your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act.

From our preliminary assessment, we estimate that compliance with your request would exceed the appropriate cost limit under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. This is currently £450. Our assessment is based on you requesting 10 years of data which would cover between 20-30 items per day which if you assume 32 weeks of teaching five days a week is around 4800 items per year x 9 years = 43,200 items each of which has a data entry which has to be reviewed to remove any personal data.

Rather than refusing your request at this stage, I would like to explore how we may best assist you with the relevant information which we hold. We can provide one year's data although we anticipate this may too exceed the cost limit.

Please advise if you would like us to proceed on this basis.

I am obliged, under the Freedom of Information Act, to inform you of our complaints procedures in case you are unhappy about the way in which your request has been dealt with.
If you are unhappy with the way your request for information has been handled, you can request a review by writing to the Pro Vice Chancellor Students, University of Worcester, Henwick Grove, Worcester WR2 6AJ
If you remain dissatisfied with the handling of your request or complaint, you have a right to appeal to the Information Commissioner at: The Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. Telephone: 0303 123 1113 – www.ico.gov.uk
