Interview Criteria for Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic (QQ59)

The request was successful.

Dear Pembroke College,

I would like to request the following information regarding the interview criteria for Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic (QQ59)

- any assessment tools and/or criteria that are used to select which applicants are chosen for interview
- criteria used when assessing interviewees for an offer
- the form used when assessing interviewees
- Details on how the interview score is computed
-Factors which are taken into consideration when computing the interview score
-Weightage of each factor in computing the interview score
-interview scores of each applicant who had their interviews through video conferencing(Skype), along with their PAT scores, school grade scores*, and whether they were admitted over the last four admissions cycles.
-Interview scores of each applicant who had their interviews in person, along with their PAT scores, school grade scores*, and whether they were admitted over the last four admissions cycles.

*School grade scores refer to how Pembroke College quantitatively asset the candidate's performance in school. Any data (be it number of A*/A in A-levels or IB score, or any way school grades are weighed) would suffice.

Yours faithfully,
Harbin Ormsberg

Please attached Pembroke College's response to your recent FOI request. Please note the following when looking at the data:
The data provided is for students who applied to Anglo Saxon, Norse and Celtic between the years 2016-2019. Data for applicants applying in 2020 is not yet available. Data given is for application year and refers to those applying for direct entry, as well as deferred entry the following year. We are unable to provide data in a single table with one row per applicant due to GDPR. However, we hope that the below information is helpful to you.

1) Number of A* at GCSE refers to the number of applicants who achieved between 1-5 A* grades at GCSE, and >5 A* grades at GCSE. Data is not provided for any applicants who did not take GCSEs.

2) Predicted A level grades refers to the total number of A*, A, and B grades predicted across all applicants. This data refers to both A level and Pre-U grades (where D1 and D2 are equivalent to A*, and D3 is equivalent to A at A level).

3) Subjects at A level refers to the different subjects taken at A level and in Pre-Us by applicants. It does not refer to subjects for any other qualification.

4) Called to interview refers to the number of applicants who were called to interview by Pembroke College, and the number of applicants who were deselected before interview.

5) Offer made refers only to those who were called to interview by Pembroke College and, of those applicants, how many were made an offer by Pembroke College.

6) Type of offer refers to direct applicants to Pembroke College. It does not include any applicants who may have been made an offer by Pembroke through the winter pool. Data is given for conditional offers, unconditional offers and no offer. ‘No offer’ refers only to those who were interviewed. It does not include applicants who were deselected before interview.

7) Pooled applicants refers to the number of applicants to Pembroke who were place in the winter pool for consideration by other Colleges.

8) Number of applicants made an offer through the pool refers to the number of Pembroke applicants who were made an offer by another College through the winter pool. Where nobody was pooled, this is ‘N/A’.
