assessment

* The corporate GIS (iShare) is provided by Astun Technology Ltd. We
also use QGIS which is Open Source and therefore free to use.
* The annual Astun Enterprise Agreement we hold runs from 1^st Dec to
30^th November.
* Last year’s annual renewal cost was £14,000 plus £5,050 Open Source
Support Contract and a £2000 QGIS Support Package .
* We follow the standard ICTS procurement and renewal process.
* Responsibility for managing rests with the GIS Unit (ISST4) within
Digital and ICT Services, 3 St James’s Road, Dudley DY1 1HZ.

QGIS is used to spatially record Dudley’s Rights of Way records within a
GIS environment.

 a. how much are you paying per year? QGIS is an Open Source application
and therefore free to use. We do however have an annual QGIS Second
Line Support contract with Astun Technology.
 a. how many users are you licensed for? No license required – potential
corporate wide use.
 a. and when is the contract due to expire? Not applicable – refer to (a)
above. The annual Astun Technology Second Line Support contract
expires on Nov 30^th.
 a. and what format will the procurement process take? Not applicable for
QGIS – Quotes for annual QGIS Second Line Support renewal will follow
usual DMBC ICTS procurement process.

 
Q7. What computer software are you using for Parks and Open Spaces, how
much are you paying per year, and when is the contract due to expire and
what format will the procurement process take? Who within the council is
responsible for this contract?
 
We use Pitney Bowes Confirm Environmental asset management software for
grounds and trees and it costs £21900 per year. There is no contract end
date. The System Manager is Dave Allport, who would be involved in the
procurement process along with their manager and representatives from the
central ICT section if we should decide to replace this software.
