Freedom Of Information,, Heriot-Watt University

Dear applicant

Thank you for your information request dated the 9th July 2019 regarding
information governance.  Your request has been handled under our country’s
own legislation: the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
(FOISA). Firstly we should like to apologise for the delay in responding
to your request.  We are experiencing a very high level of casework
generated by information governance related legislation.  Our current
resourcing levels are presently stretched but we hope that the delay has
not inconvenienced you.

In response to all your questions regarding FOISA statistics, you will be
aware that all this information can be found on the [1]Office of the
Scottish Information Commissioner.  This falls under Section 25
(1)Obtainable other than by requesting.

Regarding data subject access requests, we dealt with 2 in 2017, 12 in
2018 and 11 this far in 2019 (as reported to the Audit Risk Committee); we
do not break this down by month.  All were applicant seeking access to see
the data the University holds on them.  All of these were provided in
accordance with the statutory deadlines.

There are currently only 2 members of staff handling the increasing number
of FOISA and Data subject access requests and other Information governance
casework. Details can be found on the link below.

Once again, apologies for the delay.

Your right to seek review of our decision

If you are not satisfied with our response or our reasoning set-out above,
you have forty working days from today in which to request a review of our
