Information relating to the Tatsfield Monitoring Station

The request was partially successful.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
I have a number of questions relating to the former BBC monitoring station at Tatsfield which was operational between the 1930's and the 1960's. These are as follows:

1) Is there a plan or site map of the Tatsfield station as it was laid out at any point from the 1930s to the 1960's?
2) How many people worked at the station (typically) at any given point between the 1930's and the 1960's?
3)What were the main tasks that were carried out at Tatsfield during the above period?
4)What was the role of the Monitoring station during WWII?
5) What was the role of the monitoring station in the ditribution of information about the Russian satellite, Sputnik?
6) Are there any photographs of the site in the above period?
7) Other than those already in the public domain (and available via the Internet) are there any accounts of life at Tatsfield written or recorded by BBC staff members either living or deceased.

I would be grateful if you could forward me any available information on the station, as I am currently considering writing a book about it.

Yours faithfully,
Steve Connolly
