Information regarding Meadowbank stadium and grounds

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear City of Edinburgh Council,

I'd like to know if there has been any planning applications lodged for any of the existing area of the Meadowbank stadium grounds for new homes, hotels or the future stadium?

I'd also like to know why two planning applications recently made in my area did not show up on the tellmescotland website ref 16/01415/FUL and 16/00570/FUL as this is where I keep track of planning applications and they are not on this website at all even in the archives.

Yours faithfully,

Linda Furley

City of Edinburgh Council

Dear Ms Furley

Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 - Release of Information

Subject: Meadowbank Stadium and Grounds

Thank you for your request for information of 26/09/2017 where you asked questions regarding the redevelopment of the above site. Your request has been processed and considered under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs) and the information is provided below. I shall address each of your questions in turn.

You asked the following:

Q1. I'd like to know if there has been any planning applications lodged for any of the existing area of the Meadowbank stadium grounds for new homes, hotels or the future stadium.

A1. No planning applications have been submitted for the Meadowbank site at the present time. However, two Proposal of Application Notices (PANs) have been submitted for the site. PANs require to be submitted by the applicant at least 12 weeks before a major planning application is submitted. The purpose of the PAN is to agree the level of public consultation required in advance of the submission of the planning application. The public consultation carried out at this stage is undertaken by the applicant, not the council. The information submitted with the two PANs is available to view on the Council’s website at:

https://citydev-portal.edinburgh.gov.uk/...

Enter the following reference numbers where requested and select ‘Search’:

• 16/05747/PAN (redevelopment of the existing sports centre site to provide new sports centre facilities and redevelopment of surplus land for mixed uses including residential; and

• 16/05795/PAN (proposed redevelopment of existing sports centre site to provide new sports centre facilities including new sports centre building, athletics track, stadium and sports pitches)

Q2. I'd also like to know why two planning applications recently made in my area did not show up on the tellmescotland website ref 16/01415/FUL and 16/00570/FUL.

A2. The tellmescotland website is not a Council website and therefore the Council is not responsible for the content contained on the website. However, I understand that the tellmescotland website is a portal for accessing public information notices. Neither of the applications referred to needed to be advertised so a public information notice was not required. However, both applications were displayed on the Council’s weekly list.

To promote transparency and accountability, please note it is the Council’s policy to publish all request details and responses made under the freedom of information legislation. This information will be made available through the Council’s website and will not include your personal details.
