I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I would be interested in any information held by your organisation regarding my request on staff wellbeing in Higher Education (HE).

I would like to request the following information, covering the last 12 months:

1. The job title of the senior manager with lead responsibility for staff wellbeing in the University.
2. The number of mental health specialist staff available within the university to support staff wellbeing.
3. A copy of the University’s Policy (procedures)/other relevant document(s) to support the wellbeing of staff.
4. The type of services offered to support staff wellbeing in the University
5. The number of referrals to services offered where staff wellbeing was a primary reason for the referral
6. Staff take up (number) by each service offered to support staff wellbeing.

Please provide the above information in the form of electronic files.

If it is not possible to provide the information required due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in section 12, please provide assistance under section 16, obligation of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.

Thank you for your recent request for information.

 

Your request and our responses:

 

I would be interested in any information held by your organisation
regarding my request on staff wellbeing in Higher Education (HE).

 

I would like to request the following information, covering the last 12
months:

 

1.            The job title of the senior manager with lead responsibility
for staff wellbeing in the University. Interim HR Director and Head of
Health, Safety and Wellbeing

2.            The number of mental health specialist staff available
within the university to support staff wellbeing. 0 this service is
contracted out.

3.            A copy of the University’s Policy (procedures)/other
relevant document(s)  to support the wellbeing of staff. Please see
attached. Please note both documents are currently being revised, due to
be completed December 2018.

4.            The type of  services offered to support staff wellbeing in
the University;

o   A comprehensive induction programme;

o   An Occupational Health Service;

o   An Employee Assistance Programme;

o   Active staff champions;

o   Equality, diversity and inclusion committees;

o   Monthly wellbeing communications;

o   Access to onsite facilities such as subsidised  gym membership;

o   A chiropractor and physiotherapy and free yoga sessions.

Staff can also get involved with organised activities such as the ‘mid-day
mile’, the book club and the choir as well having access to volunteering
opportunities.

5.            The number of  referrals to services offered  where staff
wellbeing was a primary reason for the referral

Employee Assistance Programme - April – October 2018 = 747 points of
contact. (we receive this data on a rolling basis and are unable to
provide a full 12 months as the contract was renewed in April 2018)

                Occupational Health service - August 2017 to July 2018
there were 115 referrals. This is the last available usage report. Our
next update is due in December 2018.

6.            Staff take up (number) by  each service  offered to support
staff wellbeing. We do not hold this information, we do not record the
uptake of all sessions.

 

 

We have applied Section 40(2) Third Party data regarding the release of
staff member’s names in compliance with the Freedom of Information Act
2000. We follow the guidance laid out by the Information Commissioner’s
Office. From their advice a level of anonymity is appropriate for staff
that do not have a senior or public facing role

 

 

The information that we provide in response to the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 requests are subject to copyright protection. The
copyright is owned by either the University or a third party. Simply
because the information is available under the legislation does not mean
the University or the third party has waived its copyright.
