Information and documents relating to staff wellbeing in higher education

Dear Trinity Laban,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I would be interested in any information held by your organisation regarding my request on staff wellbeing in Higher Education (HE).

I would like to request the following information, covering the last 12 months:

1. The job title of the senior manager with lead responsibility for staff wellbeing in the University.
2. The number of mental health specialist staff available within the university to support staff wellbeing.
3. A copy of the University’s Policy (procedures)/other relevant document(s) to support the wellbeing of staff.
4. The type of services offered to support staff wellbeing in the University
5. The number of referrals to services offered where staff wellbeing was a primary reason for the referral
6. Staff take up (number) by each service offered to support staff wellbeing.

Please provide the above information in the form of electronic files.

If it is not possible to provide the information required due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in section 12, please provide assistance under section 16, obligation of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.

Thank you for your below request under the Freedom of Information Act
(2000). Please find our response below, which is to the best of our
knowledge.

 

The following information was requested covering the last 12 months:

 

1.       The job title of the senior manager with lead responsibility for
staff wellbeing in the University = Ass. Director of People and
Organisational Development.

 

2.       The number of mental health specialist staff available within the
university to support staff wellbeing = 2 Mental Health First Aiders at
present, this number will rise to 14 in February 2019.

 

3.       A copy of the University’s Policy (procedures)/other relevant
document(s) to support the wellbeing of staff = N/A

 

4.       The type of services offered to support staff wellbeing in the
University

a.       Occupational Health Referrals

b.       BHSF health cash plan

c.        Free Yoga and Pilates classes twice a week during term time

d.       free external counselling service (up to 6 sessions)

e.       vouchers for eye tests (up to £17.50) and glasses for VDU work
(up to £55) reimbursed

f.        12 month free access to Headspace (mindfulness app)

g.       Resilience training

h.       Sleep workshop

 

5.       The number of referrals to services offered where staff wellbeing
was a primary reason for the referral = 16

 

6.       Staff take up (number) by each service offered to support staff
wellbeing.

a.       Occupational Health Referrals = 16

b.       BHSF health cash plan = 34

c.        Free Yoga and Pilates classes twice a week during term time = we
don’t track attendee numbers but the capacity for Yoga classes is 18 and
for Pilates it’s 12 and they are usually full (up to 30 people per week
for 40 weeks of the year = a max number of 1,200)

d.       free external counselling service (up to 6 sessions) = we don’t
track numbers as staff access the service directly

e.       vouchers for eye tests (up to £17.50) and glasses for VDU work
(up to £55) reimbursed = 25 vouchers and 4 reimbursements

f.        12 month free access to Headspace (mindfulness app) = we don’t
track numbers as staff access the app directly using a company code

g.       Resilience training = 19

h.       Sleep workshop = 22
