1 How many staff work for the Councils new international department?

2 What are their pay grades?

3 Where were the jobs advertised?

4 Has the Council adjusted its budget and medium term financial plan to suit the new international department?

5 If it has, can I have a copy of the report written for Cabinet and Council and copies of the scrutiny reports on this matter?

6 What has been the cost of items procured by the international department to date?

7 What is the current and projected annual budget set for marketing the international department abroad?

8 What is the current and projected cost of travel and subsistence to partnership nations?

9 How much Public Money has been spent so far by Northumberland County Council on international trade by the department?

10 How much profit has been brought back to Northumberland County Council through the international departments trade with other nations?

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST

I refer to your Freedom of Information request in relation to the councils
new international department.

Right of Access

Section 1(1) of the Act provides any person making a request for
information to a public authority is entitled.

(a) to be informed in writing by the public authority whether it holds
information of the description specified in the request (which Section
1(6) of the Act designates as the "duty to confirm or deny"), and

(b) if that is the case, to have that information communicated to him.

The right is to obtain access to the information itself and not to the
document or record which contains it.

The Act creates a general right of access to information held by public
authorities subject to various exemptions.

Northumberland County Council confirms that it holds the information you
have requested, please see the following information in response.

1 How many staff work for the Councils new international department? 
 
The council does not have an international department but it resources the
equivalent of approximately 2.25 WTEs as required and subject to
availability who have just started to explore the potential of
international income generating projects. No business case has been
developed as yet.
2 What are their pay grades?

NE Jobs, NCC and NHCFT
4 Has the Council adjusted its budget and medium term financial plan to
suit the new international department? 
 
There is no international department as yet.
5 If it has, can I have a copy of the report written for Cabinet and
Council and copies of the scrutiny reports on this
matter?

6 What has been the cost of items procured by the international department
to date? 
 
There has only been one small tender that has not been procured.
7 What is the current and projected annual budget set for marketing the
international department abroad? 
 
This has not yet been defined as the strategy and business plan are still
in the early stages of development.
8 What is the current and projected cost of travel and subsistence to
partnership nations?
 
To be determined as per the plan.
9 How much Public Money has been spent so far by Northumberland County
Council on international trade by the
department?
