Dear Sunderland College,

Please can you

1. Confirm whether your organisation applied to be part of the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index in 2021 (for 2022) (NB the index was suspended in 2020/21 because of Covid)

2. Give details of the total amount of money you paid to Stonewall in 2021 whether or not as payment for goods or services.

3. State whether you intend to continue your membership of any Stonewall scheme in the future, and if so which.

If the answer to 1 C) is yes, please supply:

4. Any application you made in 2021 to be included on Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index, including any attachments or appendices to those applications. Please redact personal details if necessary.

5. Any feedback you received in 2021/22 from Stonewall in relation to either application or programme. This must include the priorities or objectives written by your organisation’s representative at the end of the feedback form.

I have responded to your questions below in italics, there are also
documents attached to this email which will also answer your questions.

The College paid Stonewall £2400 in 2021

 

3. State whether you intend to continue your membership of any Stonewall
scheme in the future, and if so which.

 

We are not taking our membership of Stonewall forward.

This is attached as two documents:

•             Workplace Equality Index (redacted) – this contains the
application we have made to Stonewall

•             Supporting Documents (redacted) – this contains the
documents uploaded to Stonewall that show as links in the application but
are not accessible due to their location.

•             There is also an index attached to help navigate where the
documents are.

 

5. Any feedback you received in 2021/22 from Stonewall in relation to
either application or programme. This must include the priorities or
objectives written by your organisation’s representative at the end of the
feedback form.

 

We are not taking our membership with Stonewall forward so have only
received our score and rank from them. The email confirming our score and
rank is attached as ‘WEI 2022 – Score conformation and ranking’

 

If you are dissatisfied in any way with the handling of your request, you
have the right to request a review. You should do this as soon as possible
or in any case within two months of the date of issue of this letter. In
the event that you require a review to be undertaken, you can do so by
writing in the first instance to the Head of Corporate Governance and
Policy Bede Campus, Durham Road, Sunderland, SR3 4AH or by emailing

If following an internal review, carried out by an independent decision
maker, you were to remain dissatisfied in any way with the handling of the
request you may make a complaint, under Section 50 of the Freedom of
Information Act, to the Information Commissioner’s Office and ask that
they investigate whether the College has complied with the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act. You can write to the Information Commissioner
