Information about declining offers
Dear London School of Economics,
I would like to know whether an application submitted to LSE will be negatively looked upon due to the candidate declining an offer in a previous admissions cycle. Can the admissions officers who look at your application see that you have declined an offer in the past? I would also like to know whether this differs between departments.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Smith
Thank you for your email. As you will appreciate, information requests
place additional demands on the School in terms of costs and staff time.
At present we are having to prioritise our finite resources in order to
meet the unprecedented challenges we are facing during the Coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic. As such, we need to advise you that while we will
continue to process individual requests, you may experience some delay in
our response during the current pandemic.
Dear Alex
Further to your recent FoI request, the Schools response is provided below:
Each year, applications are considered on their individual merits, based on a holistic view of your supporting documents in the context of the current cohort. Such decisions are not made based upon the outcome any of your previous applications.
If you think that the information provided does not meet your request, contact Rachael Maguire on 020 7849 4622 or write to Louise Nadal, School Secretary, London School of Economics and Political Science, Houghton Street, London, WC2A 2AE. We will then review the response to your request and get back to you within 20 working days. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office http://www.ico.gov.uk/, though they expect the internal review to be carried out before receiving a complaint directly.

Dear GLPD.Info.Rights,
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/g...
How come reapplicants only had a 33% success rate when reapplying in the linked FOI request? That seems quite low for people who have previously secured an offer. Is this just a coincidence?
Yours sincerely,
Alex Smith
