Dear Public Health Wales,
I would be extremely grateful if you could confirm the following:
i) How many educational settings - in Wales - have recorded a positive Covid-19 test result amongst their staff and/or student body, since 1st September 2020.
ii) Further, and in these educational settings, how many pupils have recorded a positive Covid-19 test result since 1st September 2020.
iii)Further, and in these educational settings, how many staff members have recorded a positive Covid-19 test result since 1st September 2020.
iv) Finally, how many incidences of in-school transmission have been acknowledged in educational settings since 1st September 2020.
I would draw your attention to the fact that I am not asking for anything that would identify individual establishments, nor a geographic breakdown of these figures.
The argument given - in refusals of previous requests of this kind - that these data would result in the identification of schools, people and children, is getting weaker as case numbers rise. Yes, when there were five, or ten or fifty schools, it would have been a confidentiality risk. But now that there are hundreds of schools and and hundreds of cases, the argument that the mere publication of numbers would risk personal identification is null and void.
I await your reply with interest.
