Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

How many SYFRS employees have been retired early to pension due to ill health?

How many of these have had their pension entitlement reassessed.

How many of these have had their pension reassessed twice?

How many have had their pension reassessed more than twice?

How much does it cost for an ill health reassessment from the brigade medical advisor? If there is not one fixed price, then what is the average cost per case?

How much does it cost for an IQMP to reassess each individual? If there is not one fixed price, then what is the average cost per case?

What budget does the BMA / IQMP costs come from?

How many retirees does SYFRS currently have a recommendation to reassess from a medical professional.

I look forward to your response,

Yours faithfully,

David Eason

Dear FOI,
1.) I would like all the information regarding ill health retirements from SYFRS since records began.

2 & 3 & 4) I am led to believe that SYFRS have a statutory duty to review / reassess ill health pensions.
Reassessed - Verb - Consider or assess again, in the light of new or different factors.
Review - Noun - A formal assessment of something with the intention of instituting change if necessary.

Yours sincerely,

David Eason

Thank you for both your email of 27/07/19 where you requested information
relating ill health retirements and pension assessments.  Your full
request followed by our response is as follows:

1.            How many SYFRS employees have been retired early to pension
due to ill health?

420 (since records began in 1974) employees have retired due to ill
health.

2.            How many of these have had their pension entitlement
reassessed.

I can confirm that South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue (SYFR) hold no records
of any reassessments.

3.            How many of these have had their pension reassessed twice?

I can confirm SYFR does not hold this information. We contract a medical
advisor on an hourly basis to conduct a range of specialist tasks, however
this rate is not broken down by task.

6.            How much does it cost for an IQMP to reassess each
individual? If there is not one fixed price, then what is the average cost
per case?

Referrals to the IQMP costs approximately £500 for an ill health
reassessment.

7.            What budget does the BMA / IQMP costs come from?

The SYFR Human Resources budget.

8.            How many retirees does SYFRS currently have a recommendation
to reassess from a medical professional.

There are currently 9 retirees that we have received a recommendation to
reassess their ill health retirement.
