Dear Lamar Sakaya

Colleagues have asked me to get in touch with you to request clarification
in relation to your request below.  Specifically, they would be grateful
if you could clarify the following:-

·        What is meant by “successful applicant” in ‘the lowest predicted
IB score for a successful applicant in the course’?  Do you mean
applicants who received an offer, or who were accepted on to the course
after giving a positive response (firm or insurance) to an offer?

·        Also, we intend to define ‘IB applicants’ as any applicant who is
studying or has studied an IB.  Could you confirm that you are happy with
this approach, or would you prefer us to only count applicants who have a
predicted IB score?

Your request will be placed on hold until we receive the requested
clarification from you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Dear ACCESS I.,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. To clarify, the successful applicant means an applicant who received an offer. In addition, I would prefer if you would only count applicants with a predicted ib score.

I hope this clears things up

Yours sincerely,

Dear Lamar Sakaya

Thank you for your request for information from Durham University.
Colleagues have provided the information below and attached in response
to your questions.

1) The total number of all IB applicants for the course

2)The total number of offers given to all IB applicants in the course

3)The lowest predicted IB score for a successful applicant in the course

Please see the information attached.

Durham University considers a range of factors when making admissions
decisions.  Offers are sometimes made on the basis of particular merit and
potential, and take into account the context in which applicants’ grades
have been achieved.  The lowest predicted IB score for a successful
applicant does not give a good indication of the average predicted score
for successful applicants.  Further information on the typical offer for
BA History can be found on our website

If you are dissatisfied with the University’s response to your freedom of
information request, you can ask us to internally review our handling of
your request, including the application of any exemptions applied.  To do
this, please email [2][Durham University request email] or write to:
