Further information required

Thank you for your email which was received by the Council on 31st
December 2010. The Council has reviewed your Request, however we require
further information in order to identify and locate the requested
information.

Your request:

I would be most grateful if you could provide the following

information on:

oAll the roads that have been resurfaced and surfaced dressed

during the years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and at what cost.

oWhich roads are expected to be resurfaced or treated during 2011.

oThe total amount spent on road maintenance during the years of

2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 in the Bradford District.

oThe number of potholes on the districts roads in 2005, 2006, 2007,

2008, 2009 and 2010.

Please provide definitive clarification of what you consider to be "road
maintenance" as per point 3 of your request in order that the relevant
information may be compiled. There are several operations that the
authority carries out that may be covered by that terminology - is the
request intended for specific types of work?
Please also note that due to a change in accounting systems specific
financial information may not be available for the 2005/06 financial
year that can be accessed within a reasonable timeframe.

Until we receive clarification, the Council will consider this information
request to be suspended. The 20 working days to respond will commence when
we receive your clarification.

If we do not hear from you within one month of the date of this
letter/email we will assume that you are no longer seeking access to this
information and the Council will take no further action.

Dear Darren Badrock,

With regards to the clarification you require, I consider 'road maintenance' to include reactive maintenance (e.g. filling in potholes, reports by the public etc.) and planned maintenance (scheduled programmes of work). If you could give the breakdown on how much was spent on each I would be most grateful.

Secondly, it is fine if you are unable to provide the details on how much was spend on road maintenance in 2005/6.

Yours sincerely,

Adam Boutchiche

Dear Mr.Boutchiche,

I write further to your request of the 31st December 2010 which was worded
as follows;

I would be most grateful if you could provide the The summary page on
the attached spreadsheet gives a total for each year's spend on road
maintfollowing information on:

oAll the roads that have been resurfaced and surfaced dressed during
the years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and at what cost.

oWhich roads are expected to be resurfaced or treated during 2011.

oThe total amount spent on road maintenance during the years of 2005,
2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 in the Bradford District.

oThe number of potholes on the districts roads in 2005, 2006, 2007,
2008, 2009 and 2010.

With regard to part 1 of your request

I have attached a spread sheet showing all planned surfacing and
surfaced dressed sites for the years specified, including relevant
costs. With regard to part 2

I am unable to answer your request at present as the list of schemes to
be carried out in the 2011/12 financial year has not yet been approved
by our Executive Committee. The information will be available on or
after 31st March 2011.

With regard to part 3

enance, and a combined total as well. Unfortunately information for the
2005/06 year is unavailable, as noted in my previous response.

With regard to part 4

Unfortunately I am unable to answer your request as the numbers of
individual potholes filled is not recorded by the Authority.

As a very rough estimate, based on officer experience, during normal
weather periods across the district we believe between 20-30 potholes
would be filled a day. In periods of severe weather - such as those
experienced during the 2009/10 winter we believe the Authority was
dealing with an excess of 200 per day.

Reactive maintenance works of that nature, combined with minor patching
works are ordered on a generic basis, usually giving a street name and
an instruction to fill any potholes encountered - or to patch out
damaged areas. To break down these orders and derive numbers of
individual pot holes and patches is prohibitive in terms of time and
cost to the Authority.

I have, however, given an indication of these costs in the "Reactive
Maintenance" column for each year on the summary page of the attached
spreadsheet.

If you have any questions about this information please do not hesitate to
contact me.
