Dear Home Office,

Please can you answer the following questions

1) How many deaths have occurred during enforced removals/deportations in the last five years for which figures are available? Please define 'during enforced removals/deportations' as any time that the the person being removed or deported is in the care of Home Office appointed escorts - so from the moment the person is handed over to the care of escorts in the UK (at an IRC, Home Office reporting centre, UK airport etc) until the time the escort parts from the person when they have reached their destination country.

2) On how many occasions over the last five years during enforced removals/deportations has the removal had to be suspended because the person being forcibly removed/deported became unwell during the removal. Please define 'during enforced removals/deportations' as in question 1)

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Diane Taylor
