Dear Miss Heald,
Thank you for your request for information, which was received on 24^th
March 2012, where you have requested the following :

“Please send me under the Freedom of Information Act a current list of all
Heads / Principals names and contact details (first name last name, centre
name, email address, phone number, centre address) for education centres
for 11-19 year olds nationally.

This includes Secondary Community schools, Academies (sponsored and
converters), Further Education Colleges, Foundation, VA and VC, Grammar
schools etc “.

I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

A copy of the information you have requested is enclosed.  Please note that
the Head Teacher name fields within EduBase are the responsibility of the
school to update.  All schools have the ability to update EduBase, however
there is no statutory requirement that schools have to inform the
Department of any change in Head Teacher; therefore the information
contained within this extract is entirely based on the Head Teacher name
that the Department has been notified of.

As you have specified the types of establishment required and have included
centres I have also included all Pupil Referral Units.  These are centres
which provide statutory education for children whom have been excluded or
are sick and cannot attend mainstream school.  All other types of
establishment included within the extract are either schools or colleges as
requested.  The data extracted has been based purely on the Statutory
Lowest and Highest Age therefore there are some establishments which
include pupils from 0 – 99, this is in order to provide you with the data
that fits your requirements.

The information supplied to you continues to be protected by copyright. You
are free to use it for your own purposes, including for private study and
non-commercial research, and for any other purpose authorised by an
exception in current copyright law. Documents (except photographs) can be
also used in the UK without requiring permission for the purposes of news
reporting. Any other re-use, for example commercial publication, would
require the permission of the copyright holder.

Dear Department for Education,

Thank you for your response but I am afraid I cannot access the information you sent.

When I try to open the spreadsheet xls file I get errors:
Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible. Excel attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted.

When I open it it only shows numbered data in columns A B D and G H I which without any context is meaningless.

When I try to open the HTML file it says it should be opened in a new window, when I try to do that I get an error saying Google Docs was unable to open the file.

Please can you email the file directly to me in spreadsheet format as it is really frustrating having waited for it this long not to be able to see anything.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours faithfully,

miss b heald

The attachment was corrupted by WDTK's processing to redact email addresses; the version sent by the DfE was fine. I've uploaded an uncorrupted (and unredacted) version here: http://files.whatdotheyknow.com/request/...

Dear Department for Education,

Please ignore my email earlier today, the What do they know team have now resolved the issue for me.

Thank you for your assistance, the file is just what I needed.

Dear Miss B heald
You might want to ask your local Headteachers for a copy of the Lightning Risk Assessment for their schools as I think this danger is nationwide , not just isolated to Devon
