Dear A.Marfo

Thank you for your email of 12 February 2020, in which you ask for
information in relation to social workers registered between 2014 to 2019.

Your request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(FOIA).

Please find below our response to your questions.

1.       How many social workers for Slough Social Services years 2014 to
2019 year by year figures have had hearings with HCPC have been sacked or
suspended due to misconduct?

This information is not held by the HCPC. Between 2014 to 1 December 2019,
there were a total of 5 social workers employed in Slough at the time
their fitness to practise (FTP) case was concluded at Final Hearing. These
individuals did not mention to the Health & Care Professions Council
(HCPC) that they were sacked or suspended due to being involved in an FTP
case.

It may assist your enquiries to know that between 2014 to 1 December 2019
there were a total of 1,151 social worker cases from all over England
whose cases were concluded at Final Hearing. Please refer to the below
table for a breakdown of the Final Hearing outcome by year. Apart from the
ones mentioned above we are unable to determine those social workers
employed at Slough Social Services at the time of their Final Hearing and
how having an FTP case impacted on their employment.

FOI, Health and Care Professions Council

Dear A. Marfo

I write in response to your request for a review of the HCPC’s response to
the freedom of information request you made.

Original request

Your request dated 12 February 2020, asked for information in relation to
social workers employed at Slough Social Services between 2014 to 2019.

We provided you with some information relating to registered social
workers and the limited information held for social workers at Slough
Social Services. We explained that some of the information you requested
was not held by the HCPC.

Whilst your request for an internal review is silent on this point, we
have assumed that you seek an internal review of your question “How many
social workers for Slough Social Services years 2014 to 2019 year by year
figures have had hearings with HCPC have been sacked or suspended due to
misconduct?”

Internal review

I have reviewed your request and the HCPC response, I can confirm that our
original response to you is correct.

As stated in our original response to you, the information you seek is not
held by the HCPC. We do not hold information about whether the individuals
were sacked or suspended from their employment with Slough Social
Services. Instead, we were able to provide you with the total number of
social workers who were employed by Slough Social Services at the time
their fitness to practise hearing was concluded at Final Hearing. This
total is 5 and as stated, these individuals did not inform us whether they
had been sacked or suspended.

We provided you with the total number of social worker cases from all over
England whose cases concluded at Final Hearing between 2014 to 1 December
2019, with breakdown of outcome by year. Whilst this was not the
information you asked for, we provided it as we thought it may assist with
your enquiries.

Review of response

Should you wish, you may request that the Information Commissioner reviews
this response. Please contact-
