Please note that in advance of the 2018-19 academic year the University
launched a new report system, Report and Support
[1]https://reportandsupport.essex.ac.uk/.  This system allows staff,
students and visitors to either contact an advisor or to make a report
anonymously.  Some individuals chose to make an initial anonymous report
and then follow that up with an advisor request, which can cause double
reporting in the system.  The launch of our Report and Support system,
which makes it much more straightforward for students and staff to report
incidents, has coincided with a significant increase in the number of
allegations being recorded.

I hope you find this information useful but if you have any queries about
the data, please let me know.

Best wishes
