Has Councillor Larkin Been Present At Any Council Discussions Of The Copthorne Village West Proposal?

The request was successful.

Dear Worth Parish Council,

The East Grinstead Courier has reported that Councillor Larkin: "has admitted he could become a "multimillionaire"
if hundreds of new homes are built" on the proposed Copthorne Village West site, part of which is owned by his parents.

The same report stated that: "A Mid Sussex District Council spokeswoman said Cllr Larkin should declare his interest before the parish council discusses the St Modwen development."

Have any discussions of this proposed development taken place at the council; where Councillor Larkin has been present; and at which he has not declared his interest, as required, according to the Mid Sussex District Council spokeswoman?

Yours faithfully,

P L Pratt

Dear Mr Pratt,

In answer to your question, I understand that the St Modwen development is at the proposal stage and a formal planning application is yet to be lodged. When it has been lodged, then it will be discussed at a subsequent meeting of the Council's Planning & Highways Committee. Therefore, there has been no formal discussions to date of St Modwen's proposals by the Parish Council and the requirement for any councillor to declare any interest in the future St Modwen proposal has not yet arisen.

Cllr C Larkin is very aware that, even though he does not have a disclosable pecuniary interest in the land in question, that he will be declaring a family interest in part of the land and will be stepping aside from any discussions by the Council. I understand that Cllr Larkin was also quoted in the East Grinstead Courier as saying that equally he does not know if he does stand to inherit from his parents' wills, but that he will be voluntarily standing down from discussions on the possible St Modwen application.

Yours
