Dear British Transport Police,

I would be grateful if you could offer me guidance on how I could best reframe the request in order to obtain as much of the information as possible while bringing it below the cost limit.
As you may be aware, Section 16 of the FOI Code of Practice (https://www.gov.uk/government/publicatio...) advises that bodies should 'provide advice and assistance, so far as it would be reasonable to expect the authority to do so' and ICO guidance (https://ico.org.uk/media/for-organisatio...) interprets this as a suggestion that the authority should provide suggestions of this nature.

Yours faithfully,

Patrick Breathen

Freedom of information, British Transport Police

Dear Patrick Breathen,

Thank you for your email. It is difficult to offer specific advice as the original request was very broad (and on the broadest reading would encompass essentially any training documents held by our Learning & Development team, any process documents issued by any BTP department, any updates posted via the Force intranet or by email over an indefinite time period) and therefore we are not aware of what information that you are specifically wanting to access. Therefore the only advice that can usefully be given is that you may wish to limit the request in terms of time and scope (so, for instance, if you wished to receive copies of the current training materials used by the Learning & Development Department in respect of a specific course or topic, or guidance issued by the relevant department in a particular time period on a specific process, area of law or topic, then phrasing a request in that way may allow for proportionate searches to be carried out).

Kind Regards,

Dear Freedom of information,

https://pdf4pro.com/amp/view/ipldp-quick... is a link to the "IPLDP Quick Notes". Does the BTP have anything else in addition to this such as specific information about Bylaws and further information about specific areas of Transport Policing? I would like these.

Yours sincerely,

Patrick Breathen
