Dear Mr Lewis,

Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Request for Information

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the
Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.

Please find the response to your request below.

The Council does not have a five year supply of land for Gypsy and
Traveller accommodation.  The Council has recently updated its [1]Gypsy
and Traveller Accommodation Assessment and is seeking to provide a five
year supply of land for Gypsy and Traveller accommodation in its emerging
new local plan. Information is available in the Wakefield District Initial
Draft Local Plan.

The Council has a criteria based policy for assessing planning
applications for Gypsy and Traveller accommodation in the current
development plan ([2]Core Strategy Policy CS 7 Accommodation for Gypsies,
Travellers and Travelling Showpeople) and in the emerging new local plan
([3]Initial Draft Local Plan Volume 1 Policy WSP 8 Gypsy, Traveller and
Travelling Showperson Accommodation). Sites are shown in the [4]Initial
Draft Local Plan Volume 2, which is organised by settlement under Housing,
most are in the Other Location category.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further queries
regarding this matter.

Yours sincerely
