Graduation Plans for 2020 and 2021 Students

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Royal Agricultural University,

I am writing to make an open government request for all the information to which I am entitled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I have an interest in how you have approached your graduation ceremonies during the Coronavirus pandemic. Please could you answer the following:

1) For your students who graduated in 2020, have they had an in-person graduation yet?

2) If no to question 1., are there plans to have an in-person graduation, when restrictions have been lifted? If so, will they be the same as previous cohorts (2019, 2018, etc.) and when are they currently planned for?

3) For your students who are due to graduate in 2021, will they have an in-person graduation? If no, what are your plans for these students?

Yours faithfully,

Kamran Ali

Dear Kamran,

Thank you for your request for information (below) on Graduation Plans for 2020 and 2021 Students. Your request has been considered under the Freedom of Information Act (2000).

You asked:

1) For your students who graduated in 2020, have they had an in-person graduation yet?

2) If no to question 1., are there plans to have an in-person graduation, when restrictions have been lifted? If so, will they be the same as previous cohorts (2019, 2018, etc.) and when are they currently planned for?

3) For your students who are due to graduate in 2021, will they have an in-person graduation? If no, what are your plans for these students?

The information you requested is as follows:

1) No

2) Yes there are plans to have an in-person graduation however these ceremonies will not be the same as previous cohorts. The ceremony will be held on our main campus rather than in Cirencester town. It will be held in an open sided structure at the front of the University and be slightly less formal in nature however academic dress will be worn and students will be gowned. The date is Friday 23rd July.

3) Yes. Thursday 22nd July. There will be three ceremonies per day and students will be allowed a maximum of two guests in order to control numbers and ensure adequate physical distancing can be achieved. Only staff and students in the marquee - guests will be encouraged to gather outside.

I hope that this response is helpful to you. If you have any further queries related to this request details of our review procedure are attached.

Kind regards,
Thomas
