Hello Mr McCloy

Thank you for contacting the Department of Agriculture, Environment and
Rural Affairs.

Unfortunately within the department we have no way on linking the Mineral
Licence number you have quoted below to any particular site/location –
Mineral licences are issued by the Department for the Economy and they do
not routinely share information directly with other departments regarding
applications for mineral licences.

I may help your request if you also contact the Department for the Economy
in regard to this matter.

If you could provide further information regarding the site in question -
name of site, address of site or even better an associated planning
reference number we will hopefully be able to assist with your request
below.

Kind regards

Ben McComb

Hello Mr McCloy

Thank you for providing the further information below.

I have spoken with my colleagues regarding your question and I have the following information for you:

1. A mineral licence application and approval is a purely Department of Economy process and as such no reference/consultation to either the local planning authority, Department for Infrastructure or NIEA is routinely made as part of the process.

2. A mineral licence in itself doesn't require an EIA, however if the applicant, following desktop studies etc, wishes to conduct ground investigations in regard to its application area they will be required to consult with either the local planning authority or the Dept for Infrastructure - depending on the nature of the proposed works and project. As the local planning authorities and the Dept for Infrastructure are the only statutory planning bodies in NI they will decide if an EIA is required (they routinely consult with NIEA regarding this request) for the proposed works.

This being the case the NIEA has not been consulted by the Dept of Economy or any of the statutory planning bodies in NI about the Mineral Licence you reference below and is not in the possession of an EIA's in regard to the same.

I hope you found this information helpful

Kind regard

Ben McComb
