Dear Mr Hodder

I write in connection with your request for information dated 19^th July
concerning Glastonbury Festival.

Specifically you asked:

1) The total cost to the force of policing Glastonbury 2010
2) The total contribution to A&S by Glastonbury Festivals for 2010
3) If 2 is less than 1, the reasons for this.
4) The total expenditure on hiring in vehicles for Glastonbury 2010

Your request for information has now been considered and the information
asked for is below.

1 £1,584,282.00

2 £1,228,582.14

3 Case law dictates what we can and cannot recover policing costs for. The
cases are GMP v Wigan Football Club and Mean Fiddler v West York's Police.
Essentially this means that we can only recover costs for policing
services that are essential to take place on the private land of the event
or those which are specifically requested by the organiser. Avon and
Somerset Constabulary recover 100% of the costs that fall under these 2
categories from Glastonbury Festivals Ltd.

4 The final figures for this are not in yet but an accurate estimate is
£20,500.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in
Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

Yours sincerely
